What we are protecting
I want to acknowledge something plainly: the world is heavy right now.
So much is unfolding at once, and it can feel strange — even uncomfortable — to keep talking about making things, playing games, or finding small moments of beauty while so much pain exists alongside us.
This week, I was reminded of something powerful by creator Mia Welander, who shared a quote from Dan Savage reflecting on the AIDS crisis:
“It wasn’t the marches we were fighting for — it was the dance.”
The reminder landed hard, in the best way.
If we don’t allow ourselves things to look forward to — moments of joy, creativity, connection — then what are we protecting? What are we fighting for?
Making art, crafting with your hands, sitting down to a game, gathering with people you trust — these aren’t acts of disengagement. They’re acts of care. They’re how we refill ourselves so we can stay present, stay informed, and stay active in the world around us.
Through joy, we resist.
Through care, we endure.
Through creativity, we remember who we’re trying to be.
To everyone showing up with care, in ways seen and unseen — thank you. May you be safe, supported, and know that it matters.
✨If you’ve ever found a moment of steadiness, comfort, or inspiration here — whether through something you made, played, or simply held — thank you. That means more than we can say.✨
And if you ever feel moved to share that experience with others, we have started a review page. Your words help us keep holding this space with care — never required, always appreciated. Post a Review Here
