Step back into a world where everything is under control—until one boy begins to see what has been lost.
Jonas lives in a community built on Sameness: orderly, predictable, and seemingly free from pain. When he is selected to become the Receiver of Memory, he begins to discover what his community has sacrificed in exchange for that certainty.
As memories of color, love, beauty, grief, and choice are revealed to him, Jonas begins to see his world—and his place within it—differently.
Lois Lowry’s unforgettable novel takes on a new visual dimension in this graphic adaptation by acclaimed artist P. Craig Russell. The artwork itself becomes part of Jonas’s awakening, with color emerging as his understanding expands and the hidden truths of his community come into view.
Faithful to the heart of the original while offering a distinctly visual experience, The Giver: The Graphic Novel is a powerful way to encounter this modern classic for the first time—or return to it with new eyes.

Why We Love It
There are some stories where the visual language of a graphic novel can do something particularly special, and The Giver is almost made for it.
Color isn't simply decoration in this story—it means something. Watching Jonas’s tightly controlled world begin to change on the page gives a familiar story an entirely different kind of immediacy.
We also love that this adaptation isn't trying to replace Lowry’s novel. It gives readers another doorway into it—and another reason for those of us who first met Jonas years ago to walk back through.
