Seven stitches, a little honeycomb, and several very busy bees.

The Honeybees Embroidery Stitch Sampler from Kiriki Press turns stitch practice into a richly textured little study of one of nature's hardest-working pollinators.

The cotton fabric comes screen-printed with the pattern, stitch names, and practice areas, so there's no tracing or transferring required. Work through each technique several times, then use what you've learned to build the honeybee-inspired central design.

This sampler introduces seven embroidery techniques, including dimensional stitches like Woven Picot, Turkey Work, and Cast-on Stitch alongside French knots, satin stitch, and an appropriately excellent Honeycomb Stitch.

Why We Love It

The Honeycomb Stitch had better be in the bee sampler.

Fortunately, it is.

But this is also a particularly interesting sampler because several of its stitches introduce ways to make embroidery feel dimensional. Woven Picot, Cast-on Stitch, Turkey Work, and French knots all show how thread can become more than a line on fabric—it can stand up, curl, cluster, and create texture.

Practice each technique on its own, then watch those individual stitches become part of the bees and their world.

That's the part we love about these samplers: you're not just finishing the picture.

You're collecting techniques for the next one.
