Six stitches. One wonderfully textured moth.

The Moth Embroidery Stitch Sampler from Kiriki Press gives you space to learn, repeat, and experiment with six embroidery techniques while creating a beautifully detailed moth along the way.

The cotton fabric comes screen-printed with the pattern, stitch names, and practice areas, so there's no tracing or transferring required. Work through each technique several times, get a feel for how the thread behaves, and then watch those same stitches become texture, pattern, and detail in the finished design.

This sampler includes an especially interesting range of techniques, from smooth satin and long-and-short stitches to the wonderfully dimensional Turkey Work.

When you're finished, frame the entire sampler in a 6" hoop, or use a 3" hoop to display just the central moth.

Why We Love It

This one gets fluffy.

A sampler makes it easy to think of embroidery stitches as individual techniques to memorize. But put those same stitches into an illustration and suddenly they become something else: edges, markings, shadows, and texture.

The Turkey Work in this sampler makes that transformation especially fun. You're not merely learning how to form the stitch; you're discovering what that stitch can do.

Practice it. Experiment with it. Put it on a moth.

Then take it somewhere entirely different in whatever you make next.

One stitch leads to another.
