“If the walls could talk,” they always said.

But you know better.

In the late hours, in absolute darkness, the walls open their maws and whisper their secrets—through cries, wails, and mimicry of the horrors held within.

You are a private investigator with an unusual talent: you can listen.

Whispers in the Walls 2e is a solo horror journaling RPG about uncovering the knowledge held within a place. Draw cards, follow prompts, record what you witness, and piece together the fragments as your investigation unfolds.

The walls aren't the only things speaking. Floors and ceilings can reveal what they know, offering sounds, images, impressions, and clues that may—or may not—fit neatly together.

Your job is to decide what it all means.

How It Works

Draw cards and follow prompts as your private investigator works to solve the mystery.

Build and draw from your Whispers Deck to discover what the walls, floors, and ceilings are telling—or showing—you.

Keep investigative notes as clues accumulate, recording your theories and deciding which details might connect.

Reach your own conclusion about the truth behind what you've encountered.

Why We Love It

The building is your witness. Instead of questioning suspects in the usual way, you're trying to understand what the physical space remembers—and how it chooses to communicate.

You aren't simply given the answer. Clues and impressions accumulate through play, but interpreting them and deciding what they mean belongs to you.

The Whispers Deck makes discovery unpredictable. Drawing cards determines what the house reveals next, giving your investigation a story you uncover rather than one you simply read.

It's wonderfully suited to journaling. You're playing a private investigator, so keeping notes, forming theories, revisiting evidence, and eventually committing to an explanation feel naturally part of the role.
