In Signal, you’re not trying to defeat the Alien—you’re trying to understand each other.
One player takes the role of the Alien, who is seeking to be understood. Everyone else plays as Experts, working together to deduce the Alien’s hidden response rules. Each turn, the Experts build a “signal” by arranging black and white pieces on a mat—discussing, debating, and committing to what to transmit.
Then the Alien responds using pre-set rules only they can see, adding, removing, and adjusting the signal. The Experts study the change, form a theory, and try again—until the group can correctly identify the rules and win cooperatively with the Alien.
You’ll work through three rounds to “solve” an Alien, making this a satisfying little challenge of communication, deduction, and logic that fits beautifully into a quick game night slot.
