Originally created as the official promo poster for Thought Bubble Comic Festival, The Book Dragon celebrates stories, reading, and the excellent possibility of having a dragon for a literary companion.

Hand printed by Natalie Andrewson in her Los Angeles studio, this small three-color Risograph layers blue, yellow, and fluorescent pink inks to create its bright, lively palette.

Why We Love It

Books and dragons already belong together. Giving the dragon the books somehow improves the arrangement considerably. We especially love that this little celebration of reading began life as festival artwork for a gathering devoted to comics and the people who make them.

About the Risograph Process

Risograph printing is delightfully imperfect. Each color is printed separately, so slight shifts in registration and occasional roller marks are a natural part of the process. These variations give every print its own character.

About the Artist

Natalie Andrewson is an illustrator, cartoonist, and printmaker known for vibrant, narrative Risograph prints. Inspired by the fantasy and folklore she grew up with among the creeks and woods of North Carolina, she now lives and works in Los Angeles, printing from her Atwater Village studio.
