Build the food web. Choose your strategy. Keep an eye on everyone else.
Ecologies: Hidden Habitats is the third game in the Ecologies card-game series, bringing 76 unique organisms and 7 new biomes to its science-based food-web strategy.
Build your ecology from the bottom up, arranging plants and algae at the base of your food web and predators above them as you develop healthy, balanced ecosystems. Strong ecologies reward you with powers and perks—but building your own isn't the only way to get ahead.
Negotiate trades with other players, use biotic and abiotic factor cards to affect ecosystems around the table, and decide whether your best path to victory is nurturing your own habitats... or making someone else's considerably less healthy.
Designed by a biology teacher, Hidden Habitats uses authentic ecological relationships as the foundation for a strategic game of building, trading, adapting, and occasionally interfering.
It’s a complete standalone game, but it can also be played in combination with the original Ecologies and Bizarre Biomes.
Build Your Ecologies
Build food webs from the bottom up. Begin with plants and algae and develop your ecology upward toward its predators.
Create healthy ecosystems to earn powers and perks that can help you throughout the game.
Negotiate and trade with other players to get the organisms and resources your strategy needs.
Use biotic and abiotic factors to influence your own food webs—or affect the ecologies developing around you.
Choose your route to victory. Concentrate on a particular biome, pursue perks and bonuses, disrupt competing ecosystems, or adapt your strategy as the table changes.
Race to 12 victory points to win.
Three Ways to Play
Standard Mode offers the complete strategic game for ages 12+.
Simplified Mode makes the game accessible to younger players ages 8+ with included simplified rules.
Single Player Mode lets you tackle the ecological challenge on your own.
Why We Love It
The ecology creates the strategy. Producers, predators, biotic factors, abiotic factors, and healthy food webs aren't simply vocabulary printed on cards—they shape the decisions you're making throughout the game.
There isn't one prescribed way to win. You can specialize in one biome, chase bonuses and perks, negotiate for what you need, or turn your attention toward disrupting someone else's carefully constructed ecosystem.
Interaction matters. Trading and cards that affect neighboring ecologies mean you're paying attention to much more than the food web immediately in front of you.
It belongs in classrooms and game rooms. Designed by a biology teacher and grounded in authentic science, the game offers plenty to explore educationally without sacrificing competitive strategy.
It can join the earlier games. Hidden Habitats stands completely on its own, but it was also designed to be played in combination with the previous two Ecologies card games.
