Start with matching. Then build a forest.

Ecologies Junior: Forest brings the science behind Ecologies to younger players with 64 sturdy organism tiles designed for hands-on play and discovery.

The set includes 32 pairs of matching organisms, giving children several ways to explore the forest. Begin with a familiar memory-matching game, then use those same tiles to build food webs and explore trophic levels as children become ready for more.

Play can be cooperative or competitive, making it easy to adapt for different ages, groups, classrooms, and learning styles.

Designed by a biology teacher, Ecologies Junior: Forest combines real ecology concepts with approachable play—and features much of the beautiful natural-history artwork found in the original Ecologies card game, along with a few additions of its own.

Ways to Play

Match the organisms. Turn the tiles face down and use the 32 matching pairs for a classic memory game.

Build a food web. Use the organisms to explore who eats what and begin connecting life within a forest ecosystem.

Explore trophic levels. Extend play into a deeper look at how energy moves through an ecosystem.

Play together or compete. Adapt the experience for cooperative discovery or a more traditional competitive game.

Why We Love It

The game can grow with the child. Matching provides an accessible place to begin, while food webs and trophic levels offer somewhere meaningful to go next.

Kids get to handle the ecosystem. Sturdy tiles turn abstract ecological relationships into organisms children can physically arrange, compare, and connect.

The science is real. Like the original Ecologies games, this was designed by a biology teacher and can support genuine understanding of how ecosystems work.

It doesn't have to feel like school. Play it at home simply because matching forest creatures is fun—or bring it into a preschool, homeschool, outdoor school, or elementary classroom as a hands-on ecology resource.
